Goal and how a hand plays out
In baccarat, you bet on Player, Banker, or Tie. Two hands are dealt; the one closest to 9 wins. Face cards are worth 0, aces 1, and only the units digit counts (example: 15 becomes 5).
Third-card drawing rules apply automatically: you have no tactical decisions like in blackjack. It is a pure betting game with a clear pace. 18+ only.
Why Banker is often favoured
The Banker bet has a slight statistical edge over Player, which is why a 5% commission on Banker wins is common. Even after commission, Banker's edge is usually lower than Player's. Tie pays well (often 8:1 or 9:1) but carries a very high house edge: avoid it for a lowest-cost approach.
Online, check the commission rate and Tie payout shown on the table.
RNG vs live baccarat
RNG is fast and accessible at low limits. Live offers a dealer, visible shoe and lounge feel. Probabilities stay similar if the game is certified. Live lobbies may add marketing side bets: read their edge before touching them.
Pick a minimum limit suited to 50–100 hands so you can feel the pace without burning the bankroll.
Side bets and common traps
Pairs, dragon bonuses and other add-ons light up the UI but often carry a high house edge. Treat them as optional entertainment, not the core of strategy.
Another trap: following Player/Banker streaks as if the shoe has a memory. For practical online play, each hand is independent.
Bankroll and responsible play
Set a unit stake (for example 1% of session bankroll). Avoid chasing Tie after a run. Check baccarat's bonus contribution often low. Play on licensed sites, 18+, with deposit limits if needed.
Keep a responsible 18+ approach: fixed budget, regular breaks, and a clean stop once your session plan is done.
FAQ
Should I always bet Banker?
To minimise edge, Banker after commission is often the least-bad choice with no win guarantee.
Is Tie worth it?
Rarely: attractive payout, but a very high house edge.
Is there card strategy in baccarat?
Not for drawing decisions: they are automatic. Your decision is the bet itself.
18+ only. Gambling involves risk. Please play responsibly.
