Outside bets sit outside the 36-number grid: red/black, even/odd, low/high, dozens and columns. They pay less than inside bets but hit more often, which suits longer sessions and modest bankrolls.

They are still subject to the zero: a 0 or 00 usually loses these bets, unless French special rules apply. Players 18+ only; outside bets simplify play they do not make it safe.

Red/black, even/odd and low/high pay 1:1. On European wheels, hit probability is 18/37. Variance is lower than a straight-up number, but losing streaks still happen. This is the usual playground for Martingale-style progressions with the associated risks.

For steadier play, prefer flat betting on one even-money chance, with stop-win and stop-loss limits.

Dozens (1–12, 13–24, 25–36) and columns pay 2:1. You cover 12 numbers out of 37 on European. Some players cover two dozens at once for wider coverage note: net profit shrinks and the zero still kills these bets.

Calculating cash exposed per spin avoids surprises. Two dozens at 10 each = 20 at risk for a 10 net win if one hits (excluding zero).

A common approach: mostly outside bets for pace, plus a small inside stake for the fun of a big payout. Keep the inside share small so overall session variance does not explode.

Avoid covering so many areas that the maximum win no longer covers total stake a classic beginner trap.
