What the match percentage does not tell you
A 100% match up to €200 is not “€200 free”. Credited funds carry wagering, game weighting, a max bet while active, and sometimes a max cashout. Without those terms, headline percentages are not comparable across sites.
Start by logging: deposit D, match M (%), cap P, wager W (multiplier), base (bonus-only or deposit+bonus), slots contribution C (%), max bet B, max cashout X, expiry T.
Adults 18+ only. A “generous” bonus with high W and 10% table contribution can cost more time and variance than a 50% match with low W.
Practical relative expected-value formula
Credited bonus B0 = min(D × M, P). Wager volume V = W × (bonus-only base ? B0 : D+B0). With contribution C, required slots turnover ≈ V / (C/100).
Teaching approximation: relative value ≈ B0 × (avg_RTP − 1) × friction_factor, where friction rises with W, lower C, tight max bet and tight max cashout. This does not predict a winning session: house edge stays negative.
Example: D=100, M=100%, P=200 → B0=100. W=35 bonus-only → V=3500. If C=100% slots, you need ~€3500 of slots stakes. At 96% RTP, expected value on that volume is negative; the bonus only softens expected loss, it does not create sure profit.
Fold in free spins, max bet and max cashout
For free spins: nominal value ≈ count × spin_value. Then apply wagering on winnings (often a separate W_fs) and the FS max cashout. 50 spins at €0.10 are nominally €5, not a €50 “bonus”.
Typical max bet: €5 or 10% of bonus. Exceeding it can void wins and bonus. On high-volatility slots, a low max bet forces longer sessions and raises expiry risk.
If max cashout = €50 on a no-deposit bonus, even a big hit is capped. Fold X into your comparison before you claim.
Compare two offers side by side
Score each offer on: V (volume), C, B (max bet), X, T, and payment eligibility (Skrill/Neteller often excluded). W=20, C=100%, uncapped X and T=30 days often beats W=40 with slots 100% but tables 0% and T=7 days.
Decline offers you cannot clear within max bet or time without overplaying. Overplaying “to clear” raises expected loss.
Log the outcome after clearing (withdrawable balance vs lost) to calibrate future choices without chasing losses (18+).
Common calculation mistakes
Mixing up bonus-only vs deposit+bonus wagering wrongly doubles V. Ignoring contribution turns a “€3500 clear” into €35,000 of roulette at 10%. Ignoring expiry lets a bonus die at 80% complete.
Another trap: adding free spins and match as if they were cash. They are conditional instruments.
Always use the casino T&Cs, not the promo banner. If unsure, ask support before depositing.
FAQ
Is 35x wagering always on deposit + bonus?
No. Read the base: bonus only, deposit+bonus, or free-spin winnings only. That choice massively changes required turnover.
Can I estimate a positive ROI from the bonus?
Not reliably long-term: house edge dominates. The math helps pick the least bad offer and avoid traps, not guarantee profit (18+).
What if max cashout is very low?
Heavily discount the offer’s relative value, especially on no-deposit free spins. Sometimes declining is rational.
18+ only. Gambling involves risk. Please play responsibly.
